Clark Gardner studied percussion with J.C. Combs at Wichita State University and has an extensive drum corps background, marching numerous seasons in several corps, including the Sky Ryders and Star of Indiana, where he was the percussion section leader of the legendary 1993 percussion section which captured DCI’s High Percussion award. Clark was also an original performer, and later a staff member of “Brass Theater,” which would eventually become “Blast.” Clark recorded as a soloist with the Canadian Brass on their CD “Brass on Broadway” and taught percussion at several premier schools in Texas including Klein High School in Houston. While in Texas, Clark instructed groups that were named as Texas 5A Honor Bands, on six occasions were selected to appear at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic, groups that qualified for numerous BOA regional finals, and were selected as Texas State Marching finalists. During his tenure at Klein, his groups consistently dominated the Lone Star Classic drumline competition. In addition, Clark is an active clinician in the US and Europe, and is also endorsed by Avedis Zildjian Cymbals, Pearl and Adams Percussion and Evans Drumheads.
Clark currently consults and arranges for the UnikStar Percussion Ensemble (Lille, France ) and Kadoudal Drum and Bugle Corps (Quiberon, France) and plays drums for the Los Angeles-based rock band “Core.”
