Rob Ferrell

  • Rob Ferrell Drum Studio

Rob Ferrell has had a very fulfilling career playing and teaching the drums.  He began his professional career playing for a Warner Brothers backed country artist named Kristy Calkins and was featured in her music video in the early 90s.  In 1995 he won the prestigious California Country Music Awards “Drummer of the Year” award.  The late 90s provided Rob the opportunity to tour with Contemporary Christian rock band “Liaison” as well as a female alternative rocker “Rayko.” Rob toured and recorded with the band “Scotland Yard” from 1999 through 2004.  He can be seen in their Interpol Records music videos as well.  Rob was very honored to be featured in Modern Drummer Magazine’s “On the Move” column in May of 2000.

Rob studied privately with Roy Burns, Tony Pia and Chuck Silverman.  These teachers provided him with the inspiration, technique and chops to pursue music as a full-time career.  Rob also graduated from California State University at Long Beach with a degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement.  He worked as a Deputy Probation Counselor for 8 years dealing with troubled teens.  Rob has taken all his life experiences and education (both private and collegiate) and applied them to build a very successful teaching practice in South Orange County, California.

Rob currently teaches out of his home studio in Mission Viejo, CA and has a full roster of students.  He has seen some of his students go on to fine music schools such as the Orange County High School of the Arts, Musicians Institute and Berklee College of Music.  In addition to teaching, Rob plays regularly in a corporate/casuals band called Party Jones.
