Pro-Mark artists carried home 10 Grammys this year after a ceremony filled with close calls, short speeches and unbeatable performances!
Two bands stood out earning 6 of the most sought after Grammys between them! Kings of Leon, with drummer Nathan Followill, took 3 awards including Record of the Year, Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song. The Black Eyed Peas with drummer and autograph artist Keith Harris won for Best Pop Performance, Pop Album and Best Short Form Music Video.
Pro-Mark also had winning artists that did not appear on the television production. David Carr drumming for Third Day won the Grammy for Rock Gospel Album. Famed and long-lived norteño band, Los Tigres del Norte, won Best Norteño Album giving drummer Oscar Lara the prized award! Best Americana Album went to Levon Helm Band awarding 3 Pro-Mark artists at once: Levon Helm, Paul English, Billy English. Last but certainly not least is the legendary reggae drummer Santa Davis drumming with Ziggy Marley on the 2010 Best Musical Album for Children.
The stage at Los Angeles’ Staples center wasn’t just for awards! Performances by the most popular artists of 2009 took the live and home audiences by storm, and no one had to look far to see striped sticks! Dave Matthews Band (drummer Carter Beauford) performed “You & Me” from their Grammy nominated album “Big Whisky and the Grugrux King” with an added string section and choir. The Black Eyed Peas performed Grammy winning song “I Gotta Feeling” with an incredible stage performance and a ton of camera shots with Keith! Finally, as a tribute to the recent Les Paul, Jeff Beck (drummer Narada Michael) performed a swingin’ jazz tune with Imelda May.
Congratulations to these spectacular artists along with all of those that were nominated for such prestigious awards. Pro-Mark is proud to have such an impressive roster of artists on board!
